Lazuli is a progressive rock/avantgarde rock band formed in France in 1998. In 1999 they released their self-titled first album Lazuli, which had a limited audience.
Their second album, Amnésie, in 2004, was released after Lazuli signed with the Night & Day distribution group.
On July 2 and 3, 2005, Lazuli attended the Montreux Jazz Festival and received an award for "Under the Sky."
The band has played two times on the Baja Prog Mexicali Festival which has improved their popularity.
In 2007 the band released their third recording: En Avant Doute.... The album was distributed via Musea Records and contained a bonus DVD with a live registration of a concert the band did in Nimes some years earlier.
In June of 2009 Lazuli released their fourth album, titled Réponse incongrue à l'inéluctable.
In November 2009 the band announced that due to differences Sylvain Bayol (chapman stick, warr guitar), Frederic Juan (marimba, percussion) and Yohan Simeon (percussion) have left the band in order to form a new project. Dominique Leonetti (vocals, guitar), Claude Leonetti (Léode) and Gederic Byar (guitar) will continue as Lazuli with new band-members.
Already in December of the same year Lazuli attracted two new musicians: Romain Thorel (keyboards and french horn) and Vincent Barnavol (drums and percussions). They started rehearsing and in May 2010 the new Lazuli performed live for the first time.
